Mike’s passion for cars began on his 16th birthday when he was given a 1933 Austin 7 special. With this he learnt to drive and rebuild engines as he had a tendency to blow them up! Mike was paralysed in 1993 whilst working for Scottish European Aid in Bosnia; ironically run over by an unfriendly Croat!

Getting back behind the wheel after 18 months in hospital was the biggest move forward and made him feel “normal” again and was a great confidence boost. He soon acquired a Bristol 412 and duly fitted hand controls. Not content with this after a few years he changed to a Ferrari 400i. He met Graham Raphael through Paddy Hopkirk.

Mike joined Graham in the early formation of Motorsport Endeavour and has wanted to help others to gain as much as he did from the internal combustion engine.
